Thanks to Barry from Pure Sales for facilitating a very helpful session on “Increasing Your Sales” – I think everyone enjoyed it.
The emphasis of the discussion was around how to communicate what you do to potential customers – whether that be face to face, on the phone or via your website.
Many people find this “elevator pitch” for their business difficult to define – the thing is – it needs a lot of practice and iteration until the message is clear, easy to convey and is easily understandable to the potential customer.
Some of the things that we practised and discussed included
- Describe what you do in 100 words
- Describe 3 reasons why a customer would choose your product or service above your competitors
- What 3 questions do customers ask you all the time.
All of these questions (which the attendees had to complete themselves) provoked a lot of discussion. Some gave examples receiving good email newsletters (sharing information useful to your customers is good) and the downsides of receiving cold call enquiries (the first question of ‘how much does x cost?’ is usually bad..).
We also had some new faces including Odilon Hunt of AVA Systems, Chris Blake of FiSCA, Enda McCloskey of 21C Training and Mark Capilitan of Mark Capilitan Photography – Thanks for coming along guys!
